UPCOMING Contras
Thursday, May 17, 2012 - Contra Dance
Caller: Katy Heine
Band: Tunescape
A red-hot band tonight, back from NEFFA and other gigs in the northeast. Tim Ball on fiddle, Rachel Bell on accordion, Jodi Austin on piano, Nadine Dyskant-Miller on flute and feet, and Peter Blue on percussion, nyckelharpa, button accordion. With wonderful dances by a favorite Ithacan, Katy Heine. Great dancing tonight to help long-time dancer and volunteer Tim Kelley celebrate his birthday!
Thursday, May 24, 2012 - Contra Dance
Band: Doolin O’Dey
We’ll have clean and clear Celtic style music with Ithaca’s trio Doolin O’Dey. Jerry Drumhaller on fiddle, Ceili Murphy on whistle, backed up by guitarist Nora Starr. Our own Yana Malysheva will be calling a great selection of dances in her clear, economical style that gives more time for dancing!
Thursday, May 31, 2012 - Contra Dance
Caller: Bob Fabinski
Band: Tempest
The cool, jazzy style of Tempest is always welcome. Leader Chuck Abell guitar stylings set the frame for great performances by virtuoso fiddler Tim Ball, the exciting Latin piano solos of Barbara Dyskant, delightful drumming with Buffalo’s Jamie Kubala, and the solid foundation provided by Alex Lacquemont on the double bass. Bob Fabinski has planned a fine program of interesting and smooth dances, delivered with wry humor and a love of a good time dancing.
