Have you watched any movies based on Jane Austens novels and wondered how the dancers knew how to move around each other in patterns often while carrying on a civil conversation? Wed like to help you get in the Jane Austen spirit by introducing you to English Country dance. We hope youll agree that its so much fun, you wont want to miss the May 4, 2008 Ball at the Cutler Ballroom.
We are providing a series of short beginner oriented classes that will start with the basics of figures and style and progress gradually through learning some easy dances, including some that will be on the Ball program..
Dates: eight Sunday afternoons: Feb. 24, Mar. 2, 9, 16 & 30, Apr. 6, 13 & 20, 2008) from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. The March 30 class will include a workshop on dance clothing of the Regency period.
Location: room 9 of the education wing of the First Baptist Church, 175 Allens Creek Road, Rochester, NY 14618 (corner of Allens Creek and Clover St).
Instructors: Pat Hanley and Richard Sauvain
Cost: $30 for the eight week series, or $5 each for individual sessions. While attendance at the whole series is recommended, we want to accomodate those who can't make them all, so come to as many as you like.
